Our plant medicine intensive in New Orleans was so enjoyable and informative that Racheal and Jen of Maypop Herb Shop (New Orleans) and I (of Mississippi) have decided to collaborate on another round of plant medicine goodness.

We’ll be meeting at a lovely farmhouse in Clinton, MS for for this weekend intensive.

When => Sat, Nov 14 & Sun, Nov 15 ~ 10 am to 6 pm
Location => a farmhouse in Clinton, MS (address to be posted later)
Price => $140 for the weekend; early bird registration is $125 before Oct 1st
More info => facebook event listing

Join Herbalists Racheal, Jen and Lindsay for a concentrated dose of herbal understanding. Considering that herbalism is a synergy of influences that continuously shapes and molds our understanding of how we work with plants and people, we’ll begin the intensive with an overview of what informs Western Herbalism, as well as its basic framework.

By Sunday, we will move into more focused classes on plant energetics, herbs and their tastes, key southern plant allies for wellness, and seasonal living with herbs and foods. By the end of the weekend intensive, you’ll walk away with your own personal experiential tools for exploring herbal medicine with more confidence, as well as a more comprehensive grasp of the core elements of Western Herbalism.

Here’s a few more details about Friday and Saturday. We’ll have some informative handouts and recipes for you to take home as well (southern materia medica, seasonal herbal recipes, tongue map of the taste receptors, etc).

SATURDAY (overview), 10am – 6pm – origins and framework of western herbalism – how herbalists view the body – the differences (and similarities) between Ayurveda, TCM, Western Herbalism, and Folk Herbalism – challenges for herbalism – sourcing for high quality information on herbs and their uses – sourcing for high quality herbs and herbal preparations – stewardship of plants and ethical harvesting

SUNDAY (by the end of the day we will have covered 12 key herbal allies for health and well-being), 10 am – 6 pm – plant energetics – plants & their tastes – southern plant allies – seasonal living with food & herbs – Q & A
