With our first Community Supported Apothecary (CSA) coming to an end next month, we’ve decided to keep offering this service!  We’ve enjoyed all the feedback from our participants and also experimenting with the seasonal selections and creations of their monthly packages!  I’ve included a few pictures of some of our previous CSA packages (above).

For the Fall/Winter cycle of offerings, we will largely focus on herbal preparations for the cold and flu season.  For those of you who are new to using herbal protocols for Winter ailments, let us be your guides!  Of course, you well-seasoned herb folks will enjoy the journey as well as our newsletter is always informative and the preparations are always seasonally appropriate.

This year, we plan to take 30 participants.  Also, we’ve increased the price to include paypal fees, sales tax, and shipping (for those who are not picking up at selected locations).  Former CSA customers will get priority for signing up for the next round as well.

So, here’s how it works!  For 5 months (Oct 2014 to Feb 2015):

– you will receive $40 worth of seasonally appropriate, herbal preparations (we are known for lagniappe, as well)

– you will be sent a newsletter describing each preparation and high-lighting the herbal allies we used

The cost is $250 (if items are shipped) and $225 (if items are picked up in Starkville, Meridian, Oxford, or Jackson).  We can only take payment in one lump sum as it became difficult for us to track monthly payments.

Payment must be received by September 1st to participate!

To sign-up, please send us an email to sweetgumsprings@gmail.com.  We will send an email to confirm your request.  When we reach 30 participants, we’ll send an email out with payment information.

Many thanks for your interest in our CSA program!  Thank you for helping us slow-grow our woman-owned, plant-powered, small and sustainable business in Mississippi!

Testimonials from our last CSA:

“I love that the CSA made me more aware of my surroundings. It encouraged me to take a second look at the plants around me and appreciate them more. I no longer see some plants as “weeds”, but as healers.  Please put me on the next CSA list.” ~ Ali Fratesi, Farmer

“I was raised popping Advil and Pepto Bismal, for the most part, any time I felt the need.  As I have grown and raised my own family, I have become increasingly aware, and concerned, about what I am putting in my body and my children’s. I believed in natural remedies, but never had the right vehicle to learn, and the information “out there” can be overwhelming to say the least  – so I did nothing.  Lindsay ad Mandi have made this part of the journey so much easier by providing quality product and, more importantly, a wealth of knowledge and information. I have enjoyed and benefited from being a part of their first CSA offering and have learned so much along the way!  Thank you Sweet Gum Springs Apothecary for sharing your love of plants!  We are better and healthier for it!”  ~ Kelley Bassett, Mother

“I felt that this CSA program was not only good for my health, but an educational experience as well.  The Sweet Gum ladies taught CSA members how to support our bodies through the seasons. I feel like after one full year of CSA packages, I will have received an amazing arsenal of herbal remedies that nourish and support our family’s health better than anything we can buy at a pharmacy.” ~ Sara Doman, Ceramacist
